Dr. Jaime Mendez | Assistant Dean of Students for the Division of Student Affairs at UTEP
Dr. Jaime Mendez currently serves as Assistant Dean of Students for the Division of Student Affairs at UTEP and oversees student wellbeing initiatives, student emergency fund and the UTEP Food Pantry. Additionally, he advises the Student Government Association and the Hector and Gloria Lopez Foundation Scholars Group.
He has been at UTEP for 22 years and has served in numerous roles including Director of the TRiO Student Support Services Program, New Student Orientation, and Director of the Student Success Programs which oversaw the University Honors Program and Student Leadership Institute at UTEP. Jaime also currently serves on the Board of Directors for NODA where he has been an active member for 21 years. He is also a member of NASPA, The Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) and the Texas TRIO Association. In 2019 he was awarded the NODA Catalyst Grant Award which provides funding for research connected towards Orientation, Transition and Retention initiatives. He received his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Administration (2020), M.A. in Theater with a focus in Playwriting (2006) and B.A. in Psychology (1997). All three degrees were earned at UTEP.
